1) Ayurveda considers walking toward tri-doshic exercise as essential: it balances all three doshas without putting excessive strain on your body. It calms the mind and nourishes the senses.
2) Create fresh meals. Foods that are processed, canned, frozen or packaged are harder to digest and thus create ‘ama’ or toxins. Also, they are old, de-natured through the method of processing and include harmful ingredients such as chemical preservatives and they no longer contain Natures’ intelligence. Rather, they create walls and block nature’s intelligence from reaching the cells. From today, make the effort to eat a fresh, hearty breakfast, lunch or dinner. Eat in a calm and quiet atmosphere and focus on your food when you eat. Chew your food at least 20 times and try to eat in silence.
3) Drink a glass of water 10 minutes before your meal. Water flushes out accumulated toxins and keeps the digestive process smooth. Sipped throughout the day, water is an excellent healer. Also add lemon or cucumber slices and enjoy!
4) Sit and close your eyes. Take a moment of “just for me”, disconnect yourself from the outside world and tune into your own being. Even if you do this for a minute, you will feel better. For those who meditate, a brief meditation will help to overcome stress, increase positive energy and sense of well-being.
5) Ayurvedic lovers recommend the use of all-natural products on the skin: preferably those ingredients that are also safe to eat. Choose foods such as coconut oil, organic rose water, cucumber, avocado to clean and moisturize your skin. Look for the simple. No more chemicals on your skin!
6) Season and decorate your plate. Turmeric, cumin, cilantro, fennel, cardamom, ginger: these and other spices used in ayurveda cuisine add not only aroma and flavor, but also healing goodness to your food. Turmeric is an antiseptic, cumin helps digestion, coriander cleans the system, fennel settles the stomach and cardamom cools the system. Decorate your dining table. Make each meal a celebration. Take a deep breath in through the nose. Conscious breathing improves the flow of oxygen and other vital nutrients to the smallest channels of the body, giving you an instant sense of well-being.
7) Links with nature. When you spend time with water, flowers, butterflies, trees and nature, you connect in the most intimate way with Mother Earth, of which Ayurveda believes that we are all an integral part. This sense of connection is tremendously relaxing, especially for those of us who are under stress.
8) Light an incense or a candle with aroma and explore the power of aromatherapy. Find your eco- friendly products to create the perfect atmosphere in your home, your car or the office. Always use natural and 100% organic products.
9) Call a friend. The people whose company makes us feel happy and loved are like medicine: they heal and restore us. Keeping in touch with such people nurtures our own hearts.
10) Go to bed early. Ayurvedic doctors emphasize and re-emphasize the value of good sleep, simply because rest is the basis of dynamic activity.
